State Helps with Grove Tornado Debris CleanupBy WYDaily Staff Sunday, May 01, 2011 James City County citizens hit by the recent tornado will get some help with storm debris removal starting Monday.Virginia Department of Transportation crews will be removing debris from state right-of-way in the Grove area of Pocahontas Trail (Route 60), on Monday, May 2 and Monday, May 16. Crews will only pick up trees, branches, leaves and other woody debris along the following roads which were damaged during the April 16 tornado:
Debris must be placed at the roadside edge away from power lines and other utilities and cannot block traffic. Debris piles that contain construction and household items or hazardous materials will not be picked up. However, construction and household items may only be taken to the County’s Jolly Pond Road Convenience Center located at 1204 Jolly Pond Rd. Standard coupon fees will apply. Hazardous materials will not be accepted. These items should be taken to one of the scheduled VPPSA Household Chemical Collections for proper disposal.
