Vote for the Triangle as 'Most Patriotic' in US

The hunt is on for the most patriotic town in America, and the Greater Williamsburg Chamber and Tourism Alliance is hoping locals will support Williamsburg's nomination.

Rand McNally and USA Today are searching for the "Best of the Road" - the country's great towns and destinations - and they're encouraging those who know a place best to participate. Local citizens, colleagues, families, friends and fans are asked to nominate, review and vote for their hometown in the search.

The Chamber is asking that locals check out the video invitation (click here), log in and then share their thoughts on what makes the Historic Triangle the most patriotic place. The search process is projected to end in late May.

The "ALL-AMERICA CITY AWARD"...is being re-introduced once again from the past three years and especially since!
1) It's nice that our local Chamber of Commerce is now bringing up and supporting the 'Most Patriotic Place in the U.S.' And, once again. I am reminding ALL of Williamsburg and James City County citizens that a muuch broader intro about the all-inclusive "ALL-AMERICA AWARD" was shared with the Chamber, the local newspaper, churches, local leaders & interested locals three years ago and every year since!...ignore d! 2) WHY is this "ALL-AMERICA CITY AWARD" THE premiere all-inclusive national award goal to build towards and earn for a national city? Only a few, through an exhaustive entry sytem, across our country, earn it! A detailed manual was graciously sent to me, and I have just renewed browsing through it.
3) This superb national AWARD, to earn, involves many groups and leaders throughout our city and county planning and working together, bringing so many facets together for our locals, not just one, like a "destination."
4) AND...I DID propose, three years ago to the Chamber and many others, and since, that our TOWN and COUNTY form a team...as the "ALL-AMERICA CITY and COUNTY AWARD!"
5) PLEASE ponder...and think waaaay outside the proverbial box. You're invided to peruse the official manual on the "ALL-AMERICA CITY and COUNTY AWARD" and help support this premeier national Williamsburg AND James City County EARNED award!!!

Colonial Williamsburg, Inc and the National Park Service deserve praise as fostering the Historic Triangle the "most patiotic place". The breginning of our country at Jamestown, the city of Williamsburg as representtating our REvbolutionary ideals and YOrktown where our freedom was won.

How patriotic are we when our resident's complain about training at Camp Peary? Or when we hear whining about fireworks at Busch Gardens. Our area is quite historic, possibly the most historic, but I'm not sure if we are as patriotic as we think we are. Maybe I'm wrong.

I vote the Triangle as one of the most patriotic places to live in the USA. We are retired military and thoroughly enjoy living here. Living in this area where our nation began, is an inspiration to uphold those freedoms that we are priviliged to have.

As I said for the past 50+ years, the historic triangle is by far the most patriotic place in the Union. Sure there are other places that may bring a happy, patriotic tear to one's eye but if you want to track the founding of America from beginning to Indpendance, the Triangle is the place for it.

In 1607 the landing of English three tall ships on Jamestown, Virginia soil created the best of the road. In 1693 the College of William and Mary was charerted and is still revered by scholars. Later in 1699 the Virginia legislators move the colonial capital from Jamestown to Williamsburg, just six miles up the road. A coded Western Union Telegram message from John D Rockefeller started the process for the restoration of historic Colonial Williamsburg in 1926.

Yet there is more to Virginia’s road to history. Lord Cornwallis’ surrender at Yorktown, Virginia in 1781 giving a final bite to the revolution WOW. The triangle of roads intertwine giving history its biggest boast. Nowhere in the United States can history be located as within the beautiful City of Williamsburg. Ask any resident and they will declare their patriotism to an area that continues to preserve the history of a proud nation.
