Pocahontas Back in Business for A.M. Commute

The Pocahontas, part of the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry fleet, was returned to service Sunday, several days earlier than expected.

The Virginia Department of Transportation took the Pocahontas, the largest of the ferry fleet, out of service May 5 for emergency maintenance. The Pocahontas' absence meant hourly ferry capacity was diminished by about 50 cars.

Motorists are encouraged to check the ferry hotline, which is available 24 hours a day, at 1-800-VAFERRY.
