Road Closures, Traffic Delays for Weekend Races

There will be a few traffic delays and road closures in Williamsburg this weekend due to various races.

To ensure runner and pedestrian safety, motorists should expect traffic delays in the areas and times noted below and are encouraged to use clearly marked detours. Affected streets will be marked with temporary “Official Course Route” signage.

The City of Williamsburg Police Department will manage changes in traffic patterns.

Roads within The College of William & Mary will be closed both days from approximately 7a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Colonial Parkway will be closed on Sunday from the Visitor Center to Historic Jamestowne for a four-hour period beginning at 7:45 a.m.

The list below indicates the detours or traffic delays that will affect vehicles on Sunday for the Run for the Dream Half Marathon.

For the Fit to Run, Fit to Dream 8K on Saturday, there will not be any detours other than that of Ukrop Way to Richmond Road for the start of the race. After the runners have cleared Jamestown Road, traffic may be temporarily delayed and permitted to proceed along the course route, as permitted by police officers.

Jamestown Rd:

Closed/Detour from Ukrop Way to Griffin Avenue from 6 to 6:15 a.m.

Closed/Detour from Ukrop Way to Boundary Street from 7:15 to 7:55 a.m.

Closed/Detour from Griffin Avenue to Boundary Street from 7:15 to 11:15 a.m.

North Henry St and Nassau St:

(at Duke of Gloucester St) Expect Delays from 7:30 to 08 a.m.

Waller St:

Closed from Francis St to Lafayette St from 7:30 to 8:10 a.m.

Francis/York Sts:

Closed from Waller St to Page St from 7:30 to 8:55 a.m.

North England St:

Closed (CWF Lot Open) from Scotland St to Lafayette St from 7:30 to 8:55 a.m.

Lafayette St:

Eastbound Only/Detour from Henry St to Page St from 7:30 to 8:55 a.m.

York St:

Westbound Only/Detour from City Line toPage St from 7:30 to 8:55 a.m.

Newport Avenue:

Road Divided/Use Caution from Colonial Parkway to South Boundary Street from 01:5 to 11 a.m.

South Boundary St:

Closed from Newport Avenue to Francis Street from 8:15 to 11 a.m.

Thanks for the road closing inform ation and the other road actions. We can live with it. I am also happy thet our local City Council has rocket to new hights. It time to review ordinaces to update our regulations to modern times. Good that we are getting out of our sleepy beds and running for progress of our City and the surrounding areas. Remember sleepy hollow is no more. .
