Martin's Gas Station Construction to Start

Martin’s got the nod from the county to begin building a new gas station along Monticello Avenue in Windsormeade Marketplace.

James City County recently approved the grocery store’s site plan and sign applications for a five-pump gas station not far from the store’s main location in Monticello Marketplace, and construction is recently underway. The entrance to the pumps will be along the connector between Old News Road and Windsormeade Way.

Martin’s generally offers fuel at its grocery locations, and customers can earn Martin’s gas discounts by purchasing groceries.

“Our goal is to provide our Williamsburg customers with the greatest value possible both inside our stores and at the fuel pumps,” said Martin’s spokesman Chris Brand.

“Customers not only appreciate the convenience of on-site fuel, but welcome the fuel savings, especially during these economic times.”

Brand said Martin’s isn’t ready yet to announce when the gas station will be open. Construction equipment was moved into the area last week, with work having started this week.

The closest gas station along Monticello is the Shell station across from Monticello Marketplace.

Kudos to martin's for not only having great valued groceries but bringing to the market a long awaited gas program that we need in this area! Can't wait to save on gas!

Will the new Fresh Market just down the road have gas pumps, too? There's enough clearing on that sorry site to accommodate a refinery! :-x

I'm glad that the Republican Supervisors in James City County didn't botch the location of this like they did with the Route 5 Car Wash. Gas pumps make sense in this location, but the car wash certainly doesn't next to the Route 5 condos!!

Hopefully the new gas station will have a lowprice effect on gas prices. I do know that the profit margin for the owner is low. Buygt a pennies saved will he3lp put food on the table.

This is good news! I would imagine that having some competition across the street will bring gas prices along this corridor down to an amount more in line with the rest of the area.
