Republican Committee Hosts Party for Several CandidatesFriday, June 03, 2011 The James City County Republican Committee is holding an event Sunday for 11 candidates in their party who plan to run for various offices up for election in November. Several of the speakers attending Sunday's Just Right Party have already publicly declared their candidacy, including James City County Supervisor Bruce Goodson, Mickey Chohany, Sen. Tommy Norment, Mark Frechette and Jack Fraley.Williamsburg resident Mickey Chohany, who aims to be the Republican candidate for the recently redrawn 1st Senate District, will be at Sunday’s event. Tea Party Republican Mark Frechette is challenging incumbent Sen. Tommy Norment for the 3rd District GOP nomination, and both men will also be on hand. James City County Republican Mike Watson, who has announced he intends to challenge Democratic Del. Robin Abbott for the redrawn 93rd District, and 96th District incumbent Del. Brenda Pogge will both attend. Incumbents Sheriff Robert Deeds, who has served Williamsburg and James City County since 2000, and Williamsburg James City County Commonwealth’s Attorney Nate Green will also be at the event. Rounding out the list is James City County Supervisor Bruce Goodson, who announced his intent to run for Commissioner of the Revenue, and Planning Commission Chairman Jack Fraley, who aims to run for Goodson’s Roberts District seat, as well as Board of Supervisors Chairman Mary Jones and Supervisor Jim Kennedy. Kennedy has not yet declared whether he will run for reelection. The featured speaker Sunday will be Republican Party of Virginia Chairman Pat Mullins.
