Pocahontas Back in Service

The Jamestown-Scotland Ferry is back to full service.

The Pocahontas was removed from service May 25 in order to perform emergency propulsion system maintenance. The Virginia Department of Transportation was waiting on a part from the Newport News shipyard so workers could make the repair and get the Pocahontas back on the water. VDOT was hoping the ferry could be back in service this week, but repairs went ahead of schedule and the Pocahontas was back by Saturday afternoon.

The Pocahontas is part of a four-vessel fleet that includes the Williamsburg, Surry and Virginia.

Motorists who rely on the Jamestown-Scotland ferry system are encouraged to use the ferry hotline, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The number is 1-800-VA-FERRY.
