Today: Mormon Tabernacle Choir Live at CW

The secret is out.

The special event Colonial Williamsburg has been advertising for the past few days is special, indeed. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir will pull over the tour buses and perform a special "flash concert" today at 11:30 a.m. at the east end of Colonial Williamsburg's Historic Area.

The 325-member Choir made their first-ever appearance in Hampton Roads last night at the Norfolk Scope in a Virginia Arts Festival performance. They are scheduled to perform tomorrow night at Wolf Trap, near Washington, D.C.

Visitors - and area residents and workers - are invited to attend the impromptu concert and take photos as it unfolds. Admission to the Historic Area is included in the CW ticket, as well as the Good Neighbor Pass, although tickets are never required to walk through the area.

It is awesome to hear the Tabernacle Choir sing live. However... I can't begin to describe what it is like to be among them as they sing! It was awesome - much too short, but a very memorable experience. Kudos to whoever planned it! The choir members made themselves so accessible after the singing was over. I enjoyed visiting with several. What a great thing!

What does this have to do with helping the visirtor gain an appreciation of an eighteenth century museum?

 Unfortunately, CW ran late and the flash concert had not begun at noon. Hope others could stay and enjoy what was probably a wonderful event.

I had the privilege of seeing the Mormon Tabernacle Choir at Scope last night. What an amazing and inspiring evening it was! If you are able, I would highly recommend attending their impromptu concert at CW. Truly majestic!

According to CW, the Choir will perform at the east end of the Historic Area, from Botetourt to just beyond the Capitol.
