Unarmed Men Hold Up City BankBy Samantha Thrift Wednesday, June 22, 2011
City police say this man robbed the SunTrust Bank on Tuesday afternoon.
Two men entered the bank, indicated they were armed and took an undetermined amount of money. They then fled by foot through the Village Green subdivision. One of the suspects is described as a black male, who was dressed in a white shirt and jean shorts, wearing sunglasses and a gray cap. The second is also a black male, who was wearing an orange polo-style shirt, jeans, sunglasses and a camo printed cap. Both of the men are around 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall.
City police say this man was one of two who robbed the SunTrust Bank Tuesday afternoon.
Williamsburg police said the Walgreens robber was dressed in all black and wearing gloves and a mask. He acted like he had a weapon, then demanded narcotics from the pharmacist. Anyone with information about either of these crimes is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. |

I think that's not a logistical solution to this particular problem. A bank is a business that serves the public. I can think of several reasons a legitimate customer might approach a bank without being an account holder (i.e. for a new account, a mortgage application, notary services, to cash a check drawn on an account from that bank, etc).
To require a pass-card for entering the building, like a dorm on a college campus, just isn't practical for a bank.
If every business that has been robbed over that past year had such images, I am sure this would come to an end.
These guys will be caught soon or are long gone by now.
How hard would it be for banks to lock the doors and only admit those who have a ATM/Debit Card from entering?
