JCC Republican Nominees Announced

James City County Republicans have selected nine nominees running in November elections.

The Republican Committee selected nominees for the 1st Senate District, the 93rd and 96th House of Delegates Districts, Sheriff, Commonwealth’s Attorney, Commissioner of the Revenue, and Board of Supervisors in the Berkeley, Roberts, and Stonehouse Districts.

The party’s nomination for the 3rd Senate District will be decided in a primary election on August 23. Senator Tommy Norment (R-James City) and Mark C. Frechette of Gloucester will be the candidates in that primary.

Former Williamsburg City Councilor Mickey Chohany will be the Republican nominee in the 1stSenate District. Mike Watson will be the nominee in the 93rd House of Delegates Districts, and Delegate Brenda L. Pogge (R-James City) will be seeking reelection in the 96th District.

Williamsburg-James City Sheriff Bob Deeds will be the Republican nominee for his office, as will Commonwealth’s Attorney Nate Green. Roberts Supervisor Bruce C. Goodson is the Republican nominee for Commissioner of the Revenue.

Berkeley Supervisor Mary K. Jones and Stonehouse Supervisor Jim Kennedy are the Republican nominees in their districts. Planning Commission Chairman Jack L. Fraley, Jr. is the Republican nominee in Roberts District.

“Republicans are offering voters experienced, proven leaders,” said Amanda Johnston, the James City County Republican chairman. “Our ability to field such a strong slate reinforces our party’s commitment to offering voters candidates who are committed to low taxes, business-friendly policies, and safe neighborhoods.”

Or, Vote in the Republicans and that spells S-P-R-A-W-L! No more trees, just empty stores, banks, and acres of asphalt!

The Republicans will have the advantage of developer money to run on...but the voters will have the last word. JCC residents to should review the records of these three candidates - and look at how is supporting them with cash - and then decide who has the best interests of the JCC citizens in mind. It's not these three - but you gotta vote!!!!

Safe neighborhoods? Really?? A new car wash facility beside an established multi-family condominium doesn't exemplify safe and good neighborhood planning, and neither does a huge continuing care facility off a small and winding two lane road. These are certainly very business friendly for the GOP and their developer buddies, I grant you, but not what most people consider safe in their neighborhoods (unless you're in a gated community and the growth is some other poor citizen's problem). GOP = Greedy Old Party.
