Woman Found Dead on York Road; Deputies Investigating

York-Poquoson sheriff's investigators spent Sunday working to identify a woman who was found dead in a lot in the Oaks at Fenton Mill neighborhood in the Bruton area of the county.

According to a sheriff's department statement to the media, a passerby saw what appeared to be a body in some tall grasses in a lot in the 300 block of Cliftons Bluff and notified deputies.

When officers arrived, they discovered the body of a woman who appears to be Asian and about 40 years old. The victim, about 5'1" and 100 pounds, was wearing a white top, dark blue sweatpants with light blue stripes down each leg, and grey and orange athletic shoes.

The woman's body was taken to the Medical Examiners's office in Richmond to determine a cause of death and to confirm an identity, the statement said.
