York Arrests City Man in Friday Shooting

The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office arrested a Williamsburg man shortly after he shot a weapon around 12:39 a.m. Friday in the 500 block of Baptist Road in the Lackey neighborhood of York County.

Sergeant Dennis Ivey, Jr. of the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said 20-year-old Horace Leon Redcross was arrested for shooting a weapon after an argument with some acquaintances. Ivey said there were no injuries, nothing was damaged and it did not appear that Redcross was shooting at anyone in particular.

The suspect’s vehicle was stopped a short time after the shooting in the City of Williamsburg. Redcross was arrested and the weapon used in the shooting was recovered, Ivey said.

Redcross has been charged with one count of reckless handling of a firearm.

Ivey said the Sherriff’s Office will not be releasing details about the car because Redcross was a passenger in the car and the vehicle was not his.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
