Thomas Nelson Community College Workforce Development is still accepting applications for a teen manufacturing technology camp scheduled to run August 10 to August 13 at the College’s Hampton location.

This four-day, hands-on camp is designed to introduce 9th, 10th and 11th grade students to modern manufacturing technology through company tours, presentations, small projects and a competitive manufacturing activity. The camp gives students a glimpse into manufacturing technology careers.

During the camp students will:

  • Assemble and operate a semi-robotic manufacturing machine;
  • Design a modern, environmentally friendly manufacturing process;
  • Work with manufacturing experts to resolve design and production challenges;
  • Compete in a “friendly” manufacturing competition;
  • Visit modern, “cutting-edge” manufacturing companies; and
  • Explore the world of entrepreneurship.

To register call 757-865-3122 or click here, then select “Virginia Peninsula/Hampton Roads” in the “Where do you live” panel, then select PENINSULA K-NEXT! in the right-hand panel for the application form. A camp fee of $59 is refundable on completion of the camp.
