Local law enforcement is reporting the following recent crimes. Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

Williamsburg
Williamsburg Police arrested 19-year-old Dwayne Reid of the 200 block of Tam-o-Shanter Boulevard in York County on Aug. 8 on a single count of Carnal Knowledge of a Minor.

Police said the charge is the result of an investigation into an incident that occurred July 22 in the 200 block of Merrimac Trail in the City of Williamsburg.

State code defines the charge as when the perpetrator is more than five years older than the victim.

Reid is being held at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.

The victim's age is being withheld to protect the child's identity.

York County
The York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information about the following crimes to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

A report was filed with the York Poquoson Sheriff's Office on July 25 indicating that while the victim was shopping at the Walmart off of Route 17 in York County her purse was stolen. Video surveillance footage shows a subject taking the victim's unattended purse from her shopping cart.

One of the victim’s credit cards was used a short time later at the Kmart on Mercury Boulevard in Hampton. Surveillance footage from the Kmart shows what appears to be the same individual making that purchase.

The suspect was seen leaving the Wal-Mart in a green late 90's to mid 00's sedan, possibly a Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable.

On July 7 a woman reported her credit card had been stolen. Police believe the card was taken from the woman while she shopped at the Tabb Walmart. The card was subsequently used to purchase electronic items in the store.

The suspect was described as a black female, medium build, with glasses and her hair up in a bun on the top of her head.

A vehicle was broken into, with force, while parked at YMCA in Lightfoot on May 27.  The two suspects used a credit card stolen from the victim's vehicle at Best Buy on the same date to purchase two Apple laptops, valued at $4,000.

My wallet was stolen from my purse last year at the WalMart on Rt. 17 in Yorktown. The wallet was stolen while I opened the doors on the refrigerated section and got milk out. It only took a few seconds for a thief to get the wallet (Ladies please hold on to your purses-do not leave them in the cart). The cards were later used in Hampton and Hampton police informed me that there had been multiple thefts at that Walmart where the cards were later used in Hampton. Noone was caught.

Credit card theft: this is what happens when the store doesn't ask for identifying credentials; their own fault.
