Popular Diner On the MoveBy Eric Pesola Saturday, August 20, 2011 After almost 21 years Patsy’s Family Diner on Route 60 in Lanexa has closed its doors and is moving to Providence Forge.Owner Patricia Harold said the building’s owner told her about a month ago that she would have to move because the septic system could not handle the demands. Doors officially closed on Aug. 10, and the transfer of furniture, kitchen utensils and other memorabilia has been slowly going on since. The restaurant, known for its extremely loyal customer base, will move west on Route 60 to a new location, 9311 Pocahontas Trail in New Kent. Harold said she knows customers will follow. “We have faithful customers and they are like family,” said Harold, a Charles City resident. “We’ve done funerals and weddings here. You name it and we’ve done it in this building. We’ve had more diapers changed on that pool table than actual games of pool.” Property owner John Filichko confirmed the reason for Patsy’s move, and said the building itself was over 80 years old and he was surprised the old septic system held out as long as it did. “Patsy’s is a fabulous business and she has done a fabulous job,” said Filichko. Filichko said there are no immediate plans for a new tenant at the property. |

Best wishes.

I remember 20 years ago, bringing my newborn son Donnie Jr. (Patsy's oldest grandson) into the diner, sitting in his car seat on any available table to help get the diner ready for "opening day"...20 years later, I also had the opportunity to have MY grandson, Rylan (Patsy's great grandchild) sitting in his carseat on the same table watching us pack the place up for our "Last day"...
We are saddened to be leaving Lanexa but very excited to have the opportunity to continue to serve friends and family in Providence Forge.
Many love you Mom but no one more than your children.
