More closure information is coming in all the time to WYDaily, so be sure to check here periodically to get the information you need. The data is organized by locality, and then at the bottom you will find listings for businesses. The Virginia Department of Transportation will close the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel at 11 a.m. Triangle and Region UPDATED 3:29 p.m.: Historic Jamestowne and Yorktown Battlefield are without power and telephone service and will remain closed Monday. 10:56 a.m.: All Williamsburg-James City County school and administrative facilities will be closed Monday. 8:44 a.m.: All Buggy Bathe locations will be closed until power can be restored. Williamsburg UPDATED 3:23 p.m.: The College of William and Mary has cancelled classes for Monday and Tuesday. Only essential personnel need to report to work Monday; all other staff report to work Tuesday. 4:23 p.m.: The National Park Service has closed the Colonial Parkway. 12:19 p.m.: Jessica Wharton, spokesperson for the Newport News/International Airport, tells us the airport is closed, with the last flights arriving last night. Only skeleton crew has remained at the airport, she says. 9:31 a.m.: The Greater Williamsburg Tourist Information Center will be closed for the weekend. Friday 3:41 p.m.: The following CW operations will be closed Saturday, Aug. 27 and Sunday, Aug. 28: Colonial Williamsburg’s Historic Area including Exhibition Buildings and Sites as well as dining taverns and retail stores; The Museums of Colonial Williamsburg and Bassett Hall; The Visitor Center and Huzzah’s; Colonial Williamsburg retail stores in Merchants Square including the Craft House, Williamsburg at Home, Celebrations and Everything Williamsburg. 2:52 p.m.: The Williamsburg Regional Library is closing all of its locations this afternoon at 3pm. Library locations will be closed on Saturday, August 27 and Sunday, August 28. They anticipate opening libraries on Monday, August 29 depending on power availability and damage to facilities. All remote bookdrops will be closed; no overdue fines will be charged for late materials during this period. For updates, call 757.259.4989 or visit their website. James City County offices will also close today at 3pm. 1:32 p.m.: Sylvan Learning Centers of Newport News-Yorktown and Williamsburg will be CLOSED on Saturday, August 27th and Sunday, August 28. Sylvan plans on reopening on Monday at normal times. 1:05 p.m.: Kingsmill Resort has posted an extensive list of its facility closings due to inclement weather on its Facebook page. Williamsburg-James City County Schools and offices will be closed Friday. Twelve-month and emergency response team employees that have already started their contract year will report to work. Liberal leave is in effect for all employees who are not on the emergency response team. All activities and events canceled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The College of William and Mary will close its residence halls at noon Friday and is asking students to implement their personal evacuation plans. The college's convocation will be rescheduled, and all weekend events have been canceled through Monday. Swem Library will also be closed from noon on Friday to noon on Monday. In the City of Williamsburg, Quarterpath Pool will be closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Waller Mill Park will be closed Saturday and Sunday, too. Colonial Williamsburg's Saturday edition of RevQuest has been cancelled, Bruton Parish Church will be closed, and the evening concert is cancelled. CW will be posting on Facebook and Twitter through the weekend to keep everyone updated on the status of our programs and activities. The Institute for Dance has announced that the American Girl Fashion Show Model Auditions have been rescheduled to Saturday September 10, 2011 2pm to 5pm. The student teacher meeting has been rescheduled for Monday at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday registration has been cancelled. For more information, visit the Institute’s website. James City County 6:33 p.m. Saturday: Williamsburg Pottery will close Saturday, but plans to reopen for business Sunday. If those plans change, operational hours will be listed at 757-564-3326. 4:36 p.m.: Due to expected deteriorating weather conditions, all James City County parks and Convenience Centers will be closed Saturday and Sunday, August 27 and August 28. Parks and Recreation’s Before and After School program, already underway, will close at 6 p.m. tonight as scheduled. Thomas Nelson Community College will be closed due to Hurricane Irene. All TNCC classes are canceled and campuses will be closed to the public and non-essential personnel on Friday, Saturday and Monday in anticipation of Hurricane Irene. Click here for details. VDOT temporarily suspended ferry service at the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry Friday morning. All ferry boats will be relocated to Richmond. Service will resume once crews determine the boats can return safely. If weather conditions improve ferry operations will continue. Busch Gardens and Water Country USA will be closed Saturday and Sunday. Precautions are in place in accordance with the park’s extensive severe weather plan to ensure the safety of our employees and animals during this time. Details regarding the parks’ reopening will be announced once the storm has safely passed. Visitors are encouraged to call (800) 343-7946, visit the Busch Gardens website, the Water Country website, or visit the parks' Facebook or Twitter feeds for the latest information about park operating schedules and activities. The Colonial National Historical Park will close Saturday and Sunday. This includes Historic Jamestown, the Yorktown Battlefield and trolley service, but not the Colonial Parkway. Crews will not respond to downed trees during the storm, however. The James City County Republican Committee has cancelled its headquarters' grand opening Saturday. York County UPDATED 3:26 p.m.: All York County government buildings will be closed Monday, including the Courthouse and Tabb and Yorktown Libraries. All York County parks, including the Sports Complex, will be closed Monday. The Senior Center of York will also be closed Monday. 4 p.m.: York County Waste Management Center will be CLOSED on Saturday, August 27th. The center will reopen at 7 a.m. Sunday, August 28th for the delivery of storm related debris, or as soon thereafter as weather allows. If opened, they will close the facility at 4:00 p.m. and resume normal operating hours on Monday August 30th. 3:40 p.m.: York County libraries will be closed Saturday, Aug. 27 and Sunday, Aug. 28.; Riverwalk Landing Piers will be closed for all boat docking Saturday and Sunday. The pier will reopen as soon as both weather and pier conditions permit. For more information, contact the Hurricane Hotline at 890-3674. York County schools will be closed Friday. All York School and related activities are cancelled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Click here for details. The Yorktown Trolley is discontinuing service for this Saturday and Sunday. New Quarter Park, Wolf Trap Park, Chisman Creek Park, Charles Brown Park and Back Creek Park will be closed on Saturday and Sunday. The Gallery at York Hall and York County Historical Museum located in York Hall will be closed this Saturday and Sunday.The York County Extension Office has canceled the Lawn Clinic previously scheduled for Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at Grafton True Value hardware store. That clinic has been rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 17, same time, same place. The county’s Waste Management citizen drop-off/recycling center and compost center is set to be open on Saturday from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. The center may close earlier if weather conditions worsen before 4 p.m. Yorktown Market Days’ previously scheduled Aug. 27 market has been canceled. Market Days will resume its regular schedule the following Saturday. The Colonial National Historical Park will close Saturday and Sunday. This includes Historic Jamestown, the Yorktown Battlefield and trolley service, but not the Colonial Parkway. Crews will not respond to downed trees during the storm, however. The Colonial Road Runners, York River State Park, Friends of York River State Park, and the Spirit Works Foundation decided to move up the York River State Park 5K to Friday evening, Aug. 26, at York River State Park, with the 1 mile fun run now set for a 6 p.m. start time, and the 5K run/walk for a 6:30 p.m. start time. The original race times were going to be Saturday morning. Race day registration and packet pickup will now start at 5 p.m. Friday at the park. Other Cancellations UPDATED 1:17 p.m.: Fort Eustis closed at 10 a.m., instead of the planned 1 p.m. closure. Only residents of the post or key or essential personnel will be allowed entrance via the main gate. Langley Air Force Base closed at 9 p.m. Friday. 7:45 a.m.: C&F Bank is closed Saturday. 3:43 p.m.: All of Chesapeake Bank's branches will be closed Saturday. 1:25 p.m. The Mariners’ Museum in Newport News will be closed to the public on Saturday and Sunday; the Virginia Living Museum will be closed all weekend. The Norfolk Botanical Gardens will be closed Saturday and Sunday. There will be no boat tours Friday, the WOW fountains will be closed Friday at 2 p.m., all classes are cancelled for the weekend, and several mazes will be disassembled for the weekend. The Heritage Ramblers concert set for Saturday in Irvington has been cancelled. The Midtown Tunnel will not close until severe weather conditions are present at the tunnel and create a safety concern. Under VDOT’s facility closure plan, the Midtown Tunnel will be closed when conditions threaten to flood the tunnel. These conditions could include any combination of the following: sustained 39 mph winds, storm surges and/or heavy rainfall. Check the VDOT website or the Virginia 511 website for updates.
