Some Triangle Businesses Open After HurricaneBy WY Daily Staff Sunday, August 28, 2011 There are a lot of residents and businesses in the Triangle without power, and lots of impassable roads, but some businesses are open and welcoming customers. WYDaily will update this list as we get new information. Please email us at contactus@wydaily.com to let us know when you see businesses that are open. Please note that most of these reports are through word-of-mouth only. This is by no means an exhaustive list; many more businesses are open than what is listed here, but it will help give readers an idea where to go for needed goods.Monday, August 29 UPDATED 11:54 a.m.: AAAA Self-Storage Management Group on Richmond Road is open. Manager Richelle Tobias tells us their facility was one of the few to retain power. 11:41 a.m.: Domino's at 1220 Richmond Rd. is delivering to all of Williamsburg until power is restored at the Merrimac Trail and Williamsburg Crossing locations. Customers can call 229-8885 to order. 11:19 a.m.: Target is open, but power has not been restored to the Monticello Marketplace. Target is only accepting cash. Trader Joe's is open, but phone lines are down. They can only accept credit cards, cash and checks. Martin's is open, but stock is depleted. 11:06 a.m.: The New Town Urgent Care Center has had its power restored and will be open by noon. They may not have phone service, but will be seeing patients today, according to Sentara spokesperson Kim Van Sickel. She says the Emergency Department has been very busy over the past 24 hours. A few patients have storm-related injuries, and some have disease conditions that are being exacerbated by the lack of power. 9:50 a.m.: The Patrick Henry Inn has power and rooms available. The inn is offering a special "Hurricane Recovery Rate" of $49 with a local I.D.; that rate includes continental breakfast. The inn is also offering extended accommodations for $203 a week until guests' power returns. Call 229-9540. 7:50 a.m.: All Chesapeake Bank branches are open Monday for regular hours. Many gas stations are open; we hear from readers that The BP on Richmond Road across from Walgreens is open and accepting credit cards (some stations are cash only right now). The Farm Fresh on Merrimac Trail is also open for business, and most gas stations in York County according to another reader. Sunday, August 28 Sunday 7:33 p.m.: Florimonte's Deli will be open during the storm re-hab serving daily from noon until 7 p.m. They will only be offering pizza, 18" cheese or pepperoni from $12 and up. 5:37 p.m.: Colonial Williamsburg anticipates resuming full operations on Tuesday, Aug. 30, depending on the availability of electricity. The Lodge and restaurant are open and receiving guests. Select sites in the Historic Area will reopen Monday, no admission ticket required. Art museums are closed, due to power outage. 5:26 p.m.: Aberdeen Barn on Richmond Road is open for dinner. 4:45 p.m.: Reader Melissa Gutridge reports Fresh Market and Trader Joe's are both open and both have power. Neither can accept debit cards, though. 3:59 p.m.: Colonial Williamsburg hasn't announced yet when its properties will reopen to visitors, but expects its call center at 1-800-HISTORY to be fully operational Monday. CW says, "We are ready to support changes in your travel arrangements without penalty." The Farm Fresh in Norge and its gas station are open, one reader reports. 3:45 p.m.: The Cedars Bed and Breakfast at 616 Jamestown Road has rooms available for guests who are stranded. The rooms are offered at $125 per night for a room and breakfast until guests' power is restored. The B&B currently has air conditioning, power, water and Internet. Call 757-229-3591. 2:24 p.m.: Riverwalk Restaurant and Riverwalk Landing plan to open on Monday for dinner. 1:10 p.m.: Colonial Pancake House and Martin's are open. 11:50 a.m.: Looks like many of the businesses around the College of William and Mary are open. Also, we've heard that the Greene Leafe Cafe is open. 10 a.m.: Kilwin’s in High Street is open and giving away free ice cream,according to one WYDaily staff member (WYDaily does not know how long this reported freebie will last, so hurry over). The Wawa on Richmond Road is open, according to WYDaily Publisher Tom Davis. WYDaily Facebook follower Lynn Shell reports Farm Fresh in Toano, along with Lowes and Walmart on that end of town, are open. She reports that home depot is letting one person in at a time, possibly. Facebook follower Marsha Weatherwax reports that Allstate Insurance Company (Weatherwax Insurance Agency) is open. WYDaily sports editor Will Armbruster reports that most of the Williamsburg Shopping Center on Richmond Road is open for business. Dunkin Donuts is open on Richmond Road, according to Courtenay Mason. Domino's Pizza is open at 1220 Richmond Road. Order online or call 229-8885. Delivery, eat-in, carry-out or drive-thru are available, according to owner Elizabeth Boyle. Patti DeBlass of Schmidt's Flowers reports that Miller's Mart on Richmond Road is open. Facebook follower Christie Cramerreports that the Lightfoot area has power. McDonalds, Hardees, Exxon, and Starbucks are open.
