Red Cross Offering Free Food

The Red Cross is offering shelf-stable meals for citizens to pick up at the James City/Williamsburg Community Center, first come, first serve.

Residents needing showers or air conditioning can visit the community center until 9 p.m.

Food will be available for the public at the following locations:

Lunch:

Williamsburg Outlet Mall (Salvation Army)

Grove Christian Outreach Center (Salvation Army)

Burnt Ordinary (Salvation Army)

Chickahominy Road (Salvation Army)

Dinner:

Williamsburg Outlet Mall (Salvation Army)

James City/Williamsburg Community Center (Red Cross)

Food:

James City/Williamsburg Community Center - 140 Shelf stable meals (Red Cross)          

Grove Christian Outreach Center - giving bags of food

In addition, Salvation Army is running mobile units to:  Chickahominy Haven, Marston Lane, Mobil Estates, Greensprings Trailer Park, and Windy Hill in Grove.

The Williamsburg Community Chapel is also offering free meals and wireless Internet from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today through Friday.

The headline seems to refer to 140 "shelf-stable" meals. Larger efforts by Salvation Army described in six other items might have deserved the lead.
