City Council Accepting Applications for Boards, Commissions

The Williamsburg City Council is accepting applications for positions on the Williamsburg-James City County School Board, Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals.

All positions are council-appointed, and will be effective Jan. 1, 2012.

Names may be submitted for the school board during a public hearing at City Council’s meeting at 2 p.m. on Nov. 10. The appointment will be made at the Dec. 8 City Council meeting. The seat is currently held by Elise Emanuel, who says she is seriously consideration applying again.

Two positions will need to be filled on the Planning Commission. The terms of both Chair Elaine McBeth and Vice Chair Jim Joseph will end on Dec. 31. On the Board of Zoning Appeals, two seats will need to be filled, currently held by Elaine Charles and Greg Ballentine.

Applications can be downloaded here, or by contacting Donna Scott at dscott@williamsburgva.gov or at 220-6103 or 220-6108. Applications are accepted at any time for city residents interested in serving on a board or commission. They are kept on file for two years and reviewed when openings become available.
