Man Held Up at Knifepoint in Historic Area

A victim escaped with a minor injury after struggling with a knife-wielding suspect who demanded money around 9:30 p.m. Oct. 12 near the Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg.

The victim was approached in the 300 block of Duke of Gloucester Street by a 25- to 35-year-old white male with long, stringy hair and holding a knife, according to the Williamsburg police. The suspect, described as wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and jeans, demanded money from the victim. When the victim tried to explain that he didn’t have any money, the suspect swung the knife at him. The victim grabbed the suspect and the pair struggled before the victim broke free and fled the area.

The victim suffered a minor injury during the struggle, but did not need medical attention. The suspect may have been injured during the fight, police said, adding that the victim did not report the offense until Oct. 17 out of fear.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or the Williamsburg Police at 220-2331.

Mmmmm, the victim was not afraid to grab the would be robber and tussel with him, but was too scared to report the incident until 5 days after the attack. Could they once have been friends?
