Land Conservancy to Present 'Williamsburg's Got Talent'By Amber Lester Kennedy Tuesday, October 25, 2011
The event, scheduled for 7 p.m. Nov. 19, will showcase 10 area talents vying for a trophy. Ticket sales will benefit the Land Conservancy, which is dedicated to protecting and preserving significant natural, scenic, agricultural and history land in the Historic Triangle. Nine of the competitors will be chosen from auditions; a tenth will be chosen from a YouTube competition. Auditions for the event are scheduled for 8 a.m. to noon on Oct. 29 at CrossWalk Church and from 5 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 1 at Jamestown High School. A registration form must be completed, with a statement of preference for audition date and time, which will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants should pre-register by filling out this form and submitting it either by email to caren@williamsburglandconservancy.org, mailing it to Williamsburg Land Conservancy, 5000 New Point Road, Suite 3101, Williamsburg, VA 23188 or faxing to 565-0049. Find detailed audition rules here. Potential competitors can also upload videos to YouTube for consideration. Videos should be uploaded to personal YouTube accounts and an email with the link should be sent to carrie@tideradio.com. A completed registration form must be submitted. On Oct. 29, judges will select their top three choices, which will be uploaded to the Williamsburg’s Got Talent YouTube channel and voted on by the public. After one week, the votes will be tallied and the submission with the most votes will perform on Nov. 19. The event on Nov. 19 will begin with a pre-event VIP reception. Dick Smith of the Smith Wade Band will emcee the show, which will be organized by head of production Mark Howell. A panel of local celebrity judges, to be announced, will choose the winner. Tickets can be purchased for the event through the Conservancy’s website and are also available at all branches of Chesapeake Bank and at the Wine Seller at Monticello Marketplace. |
