WJCC to Host Strategic Planning Forum Nov. 7By Amber Lester Kennedy Monday, October 31, 2011 Williamsburg-James City County Schools will host a community forum to give an overview of the strategic plan development process and receive feedback on expectations of the school system. The forum will begin at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7 in the cafeteria at the Central Office at James Blair. The meeting will be conducted by the Public Consulting Group “to ensure that all comments and ideas are received in a manner that is devoid of biases,” said Superintendent Steve Constantino. The WJCC School Board approved a $69,000 contract for the consultant group at its Sept. 20 meeting. The Boston-based firm was chosen based on its performance against the evaluation criteria of experience, capacity to execute, approach and price. WJCC has outlined its major objectives for the strategic planning process as: • A strengths-based approach to needs assessment, data gathering and goal construction • A process and plan to engage employees, students, families, as well as community-at-large to identify opportunities and provide input into goals that will move the division toward the vision of being the premier school division in Virginia • A process and plan to collect and distill information gleaned from internal and external constituencies • A process and plan to create final strategic goal statements, objectives and metrics. The division has asked that the plan be ready for implementation for the 2012-13 school year. |
