Law Society Answers Voter Questions on HotlineBy Amber Lester Kennedy Monday, November 07, 2011 William and Mary Law School students will be assisting voters with questions through VOTEline, a non-partisan voter assistance hotline. VOTEline is an annual service provided by the William & Mary Election Law Society to prevent confusion at local election precincts, many of which changed in the recent redistricting. Any citizen with questions about voting can call the hotline at (757) 221-2890 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. to seek information about his or her rights at the polls. Students who will be voting are advised to bring a government-issued form of identification to the polls on Election Day. Valid forms of identification include a voter ID card, a valid driver’s license and a W&M ID card. Voters whose districts have changed should receive updated Virginia Voter Information Cards prior to Election Day. "Voting is an important civic duty," Election Law Society President Anisa Somani said. "We want to ensure that all voters — young and old — who are properly registered to vote can do so. We will be manning the VOTEline phones on Tuesday to answer any questions that might arise as voters arrive at a polling place to cast their vote."
