JCC Man Shot, Killed Off Centreville Road

James City County Police are investigating a shooting just before 5 p.m. that left one man dead.

Police were called to the 5500 block of Centreville Road, just off Longhill, at 5:02 p.m. and found Elston "Deon" Brown, a 25-year-old James City man, suffering from a gunshot wound to his side.

Brown, a 2005 Lafayette High School graduate, was taken to Williamsburg Sentara Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation has revealed Brown was talking with some people in a yard in the first block of Theodore Allen Road when he was shot. Brown walked across the street, where he collapsed. The suspect fled on foot.

Police have not yet released a description of the suspect; the investigation is ongoing.
