JCC Police Charge City Man with MurderBy WYDaily Staff Saturday, November 05, 2011
Desmond G. Holland
Nineteen-year-old Desmond Glenn Holland, of Dunning Street in the city, turned himself in to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail Friday night, police said. According to police, Holland was among a group of people talking in a yard in the first block of Theodore Allen Road just before 5 p.m. when one man, 25-year-old Elston "Deon" Brown, was shot. As Brown walked across the street to Centreville Road, where he collapsed, Holland fled on foot, police said. Police were called to the 5500 block of Centreville Road just after 5 p.m., where they found Brown suffering from a gunshot wound to his side. Brown, a 2005 Lafayette High School graduate, was taken to Williamsburg Sentara Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Holland remains at the regional jail, where he is being held without bond. Williamsburg police arrested Holland in January, charging him with 16 various offenses related to burglaries that had occurred in the city over several months. According to online court records from Williamsburg-James City General District Court, those charges were dismissed without prejudice in March. No further information about those cases was immediately available. |

Do you know what "without prejudice" legally means?
Unfortunately, here may be a fellow that needs direction in making faith based decisions--the friends and family of the deceased need faith based friends to surround them during the present and future trauma. Memories and horrow do not pass quickly; and rarely without solid support.
Very few guns (around 3%) are linked back to gun shows. FBI statistics show that over 80% of all firearms used in crimes are either stolen or given to the criminal by a family member or associate.
This incident sure has that appearance....
If so, a task force needs to include residents in that area, and plan for positive activities for youth there, such as the Naval Cadet program. Decreasing the amount of available unlicenced guns would be pertinent, too. Monitoring gun shows and sales elsewhere needs to be in place!
In Los Angeles there is security that includes metal detectors at the entrances to High Schools in high crime areas. That gives the impression that a stand is being taken against crime, if nothing else.
without prejudice?
b) Oh, after all of that, the public realized an added charge of first degree MURDER last night!
