It’s Election Day! We have all the information you need to cast your votes today — from candidate bios to precinct information.
Polling precincts are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Find polling precincts for Williamsburg here; for James City County here; and for York County here. Keep in mind many districts changed in the recent redistricting, so it’s a good idea to double-check your district before setting out to vote today.
Here are the races that will appear on ballots in the Historic Triangle:
Virginia Senate: 1st District
- Mickey Chohany (Republican): Chohany is a restaurateur and former City Councilman running for his first statewide office. Read his responses to our questionnaire here.
- John Miller (Democrat): Miller, a former broadcast journalist, is running for a second term in the General Assembly. Read his questionnaire here.
Virginia Senate: 2nd District
- Tom Harmon IV (Republican): Harmon did not complete a questionnaire for WY Daily.
- Mamie Locke (Democrat): Locke is dean of the School of Liberal Arts for Hampton University. She is running for reelection. Read more about her here.
Virginia Senate: 3rd District
- Tommy Norment (Republican): Norment, an attorney, has served in the Virginia Senate since 1992. He is running unopposed. Read his responses to our questionnaire here.
Virginia House of Delegates: 91st District
- Gordon Helsel, Jr. (Republican): Helsel was elected to the 91st seat in a firehouse election in March. He is running unopposed, and did not complete a questionnaire.
Virginia House of Delegates: 93rd District
- Mike Watson (Republican): Watson owns CATLab – Accredited Calibration Laboratories, with locations in Virginia and North Carolina. He is challenging incumbent Robin Abbott. Read his questionnaire here.
- Robin Abbott (Democrat): Abbott, a consumer advocate and attorney, was elected to office in 2009. Read her questionnaire here.
Virginia House of Delegates: 96th District
- Brenda Pogge (Republican): Pogge’s professional background is in real estate, but she’s been involved in politics since the early 1990s. She was first elected to the House of Delegates in 2008. She is running unopposed. Learn more about her here.
James City County Board of Supervisors
Berkeley District:
- Mary Jones (Republican): Jones currently serves as chair of the Board of Supervisors and was first elected to the board in 2007. She works as manager of Replay Sports. Learn more here.
- Carlton Stockton (Democrat): Stockton retired as vice president of MCI in 1998. He currently serves on the boards of Towne Bank and Williamsburg Landing, and is a layreader at Bruton Parish Church. He ran against incumbent Jones in 2007, losing by less than 100 votes. Read more about Stockton here.
Roberts District:
- Jack Fraley, Jr. (Republican): Fraley spent part of his career working for Shell Oil and Shell Chemical, which helped him launch Rampart (now Printpack) in James City County. He has served on the Board of Zoning Appeals for 10 years and serves as Chairman of the James City County Planning Commission. Learn more about Fraley here.
- John McGlennon (Democrat): McGlennon, chair of the Government department at the College of William and Mary, has served on the Board of Supervisors for 14 years. Read more about McGlennon here.
Stonehouse District:
- Jim Kennedy (Republican): Kennedy, owner of Dudley’s Farmhouse Grille, served on the board from 2000 to 2003, then began a second term in 2008. He also served on the Planning Commission from 2005-2007. He is running unopposed. Learn more about him here.
York County Board of Supervisors
District 1
- Walter Zaremba (Republican): Zaremba, an estate-planning attorney, served 33 years in the Army. He has served as chairman of the board. Read his questionnaire here.
- Tony Joseph (Democrat): Joseph works as a national defense consultant for a U.S. Air Force client that provides direct intelligence support to combat forces in the Middle East. Read more about him here.
District 2
- Sheila Noll (Republican): Noll has served on a variety of local boards in addition to the Board of Supervisors. She served on the Library Board and as coordinator of the AARP tax program. She is running unopposed. Learn more here.
District 3
- Don Wiggins (Republican): Wiggins owns VA. Trusses and owns several rental properties. He has served on Board of Supervisors for eight years. Read the questionnaire here.
District 4
- George Hrichak (Republican): Hrichak works as the Director of Automotive Services for the city of Chesapeake. He has served on the board since 2008 and is the current chair. He is running unopposed. Learn more here.
District 5
- Tom Shepperd, Jr. (Republican): Shepperd is a retired Air Force colonel who now works as a defense contractor. He was first elected to the Board of Supervisors in a special election in 2001. He is running unopposed.
Williamsburg-James City County School Board
Berkeley District
- Ruth Larson (Independent): Larson, a former president of the PTA Council, has served on the school board since 2005. She is the current vice-chair. Read her questionnaire here.
- Patrick Sensiba (Independent): Sensiba is a former educator who has been an advocate for accountability in WJCC since moving to the district three years ago. Read his questionnaire here.
Roberts District
- Heather Cordasco (Independent): Cordasco, a mother of three, works part-time as a fitness instructor at Kingsmill Resort. Read more about Cordasco here.
- Richard Locke (Independent): Locke owns OpTech, a communications distribution company. His grown children attended WJCC schools, and he has attended meetings for four years. Read more about Locke here.
Stonehouse District
- Jim Nickols (Independent): Nickols, an ordained Lutheran pastor, has served on the board since 2007. He currently serves as chair of the board and is running unopposed. Read more about him here.
York County School Board
District 1
- Barbara Haywood (Independent): Haywood, an OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner, has served on the School Board since 1989. She is running unopposed. Read more about her here.
District 2
- Cindy Kirschke (Independent): Kirschke, a freelance public relations specialist, has served on educational boards in England and in the Department of Defense Dependents Schools. Read her questionnaire here.
- Linda Meadows (Independent): Meadows taught in York County schools for 35 years before joining the board eight years ago. Read her questionnaire here.
District 3
- Mark Medford (Independent): Medford has worked with the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office for the past 25 years and has served on the school board for 12 years. He is the current chair, and is running unopposed. Learn more about him here.
District 4
- Page Minter (Independent): Minter works as a Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Engineering designer. He has served on the school board for 16 years and is running unopposed. Read his questionnaire here.
District 5
- Robert George: George, a dentist, is in his fourth year on the School Board. He currently serves as vice chairman. He is running unopposed. Learn more about him here.
Commonwealth’s Attorney: Williamsburg and James City County
- Nate Green (Republican): Green, a graduate of the William and Mary School of Law, was elected to his first term as Commonwealth’s Attorney in 2007. He is running unopposed. Learn more about Green here.
Commonwealth’s Attorney: York County
- Ben Hahn (Republican): Hahn, a former Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney, has practiced law in York and Poquoson for 30 years. He is a lifelong Poquoson resident. He is running unopposed. Read more about him here.
Sheriff: Williamsburg and James City County
- Bob Deeds (Republican): Deeds retired from the Virginia State Police in 1996, then became Sheriff in 2000. He is running unopposed. Read his questionnaire here.
Sheriff: York County
- Danny Diggs (Republican): Diggs, who started his law career in 1976, has served as Sheriff since 1999. He is running unopposed. Learn more about him here.
Treasurer: Williamsburg and James City County
- Ann Davis (Independent): Davis worked as an auditor for the Virginia Department of Taxation for 11 years before her appointment to the Treasurer position in 1998. She also serves as treasurer for WJCC Schools, James City County IDA, Merrimac Center, the regional jail, Olde Town Medical Center and Williamsburg Area Transport. Learn more about her here.

- Deborah Robinson (Independent): Robinson did not complete a questionnaire.
Commissioner of Revenue: James City County
- Bruce Goodson (Republican): Goodson is serving his third term representing the Roberts District on the James City County Supervisors. This is his first run for Commissioner of Revenue. Read his questionnaire here.
- Richard Bradshaw (Democrat): Bradshaw is an accountant and former tax auditor. He has served as the county’s Commissioner of Revenue since 2000. Read more about him here.

- Ann Thomas (Independent): Thomas has worked in the Commissioner of Revenue office since high school. She has achieved the designation of Master Commissioner of Revenue. Read more about her here.

- Leslie Bowie (Independent): Bowie is a master gardener and founding member of the Tidewater Oyster Gardeners Association. Learn more about her here.

- Bob Lund, Jr. (Independent): Lund worked at IBM and has served on several committees over the years. Read more about Lund here.
- Joseph Moorman (Independent): Moorman is the Chief Financial Officer for JK Management Group, Inc. and Solar Lighting of Virginia, Inc. He also serves on the Middle Peninsula Advisory Board for Chesapeake Bank. Read about him here.

Soil and Water Conservation Director Colonial District: York County
- Timothy Beale (Independent): Beale is a Distribution Forestry Coordinator for Dominion, covering the Peninsula area. He also serves on the York County Beautification Committee. Read more about Beale here.
