Williamsburg's Got Talent Announces Line-Up

Wmbg_Got_TalentThe line-up for next week’s “Williamsburg’s Got Talent” fundraising event is set, with contestants both adult and school-age ready to shine for a good cause.

The event is a fundraiser for the Williamsburg Land Conservancy, which aims to protect and preserve significant natural, scenic, agricultural and historical land in the area. It will feature 10 area individuals or groups competing to win a trophy (and all the subsequent local fame that comes along with winning).

The contestants have been chosen from local auditions, along with one talent chosen from YouTube audition videos. Contestants are:

Dena Waltrip, singer

Inner Mission, a Southern Gospel group from Crosswalk Community Church

Haley Griffith, a singer and keyboard player who is also a middle school student

Keith Morgan, singer and guitar player, and an original songwriter

In Layman’s Terms, a mother and her two kids who play drums and guitar and sing

Ami Baker, a 16-year-old singer, guitar-player and original songwriter

Caroline Scruggs, singer

9 Points of Roguery, a local high school Celtic Band

Christian Grech, a singer from a local high school

Sarah Kendle, singer

The event will also feature some just-for-fun performances from local artists the Three Jolly Coachmen; professional dancers Woody and Mariah Denmon; juggler Steve Wigley, Jr.; and Dick Smith and John Tracy of the Smith Wade Band.

Dick Smith will also emcee the event.

Sponsors for the event are Chesapeake Bank, Colonial Heritage, Howell Creative Group and 92.3FM The Tide, 107.9 Bach FM and WYDaily.

The event will take place at 7 p.m. on Nov. 19. Tickets can be purchased for the event through the Conservancy’s website and are also available at all branches of Chesapeake Bank and at the Wine Seller at Monticello Marketplace. Tickets will be available at the door, too.

Emily, and all others -

Caren Schumacher says attire should be fun and not too fancy. Jackets for the gents are not required - go for business casual with an evening twist. Ladies, break out your boots and bangles. In other words, anything goes!
