Man Rams House with Car in Domestic Dispute

A Hampton man was in police custody this morning after he allegedly rammed a residence with his car during what police called a "domestic dispute."

Steven Randal Irby, Jr., a 34-year-old who resides in the first block of Corwin Circle in Hampton, was arrested by York-Poquoson sheriff's deputies after the incident in the 500 block of Arabian Circle in the southern Tabb area of the county.

Police said they were called to the residence because a male was in the home with a female resident and an argument had ensued. At one point, according to police, the woman told the man to leave, which he did. A short time later, the man reportedly accelerated his Chrysler in reverse, striking the front of the residence. The woman was just inside the front door and thrown across the room, injuring her hip.

Police said Irby then re-entered the home, where responding deputies found him and took him into custody.

Irby was transported to Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail and charged with malicious wounding and felony property damage.

The woman was transported to a local hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries.
