Williamsburg Property, Real Estate Taxes Due Thursday

City residents have until Thursday to pay personal property and real estate taxes.

The 2011 Personal Property and 2011/2012 Real Estate tax bills are due Dec. 1. If a resident did not receive a bill, he or she is still obligated to pay the taxes at risk of facing penalty and interest for late payment.

Anyone having a vehicle or equipment garaged in and registered to the city as of January should have provided a Personal Property Return to the Commissioner of Revenue’s office by May 1 to avoid a non-file fee. Any questions about the process can be directed to the Commissioner of Revenue’s office at 220-6150.

If a homeowner’s mortgage company pays the real estate taxes, the homeowner should not receive a bill. If the homeowner is responsible for payment, however, the homeowner should make sure the Assessor’s office has the correct mailing address. Contact the Assessor’s office at 220-6185.

For any other questions, contact the Finance Department at 220-6180 or by email at finance@williamsburgva.gov.
