WJCC Student Performances Scheduled for Thursday

Williamsburg-James City County students will show off their musical talents in a series of performances this week.

Lois Hornsby Middle School will host its 2011 Winter Concert at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Hornsby auditorium. The Hornsby Band will present a selection of music under the direction of Robert C. Frances, Jr. For admission, bring two nonperishable food items for donation to local families and charities. For more information, call 565-9400.

The choirs from Toano Middle School and Warhill High School will team for a performance, also at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Toano’s sixth, seventh and eighth grade choirs will perform under the direction of Valerie Hart. Warhill’s Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, “Naturally Harmony” Jazz Choir, and “Treble Makers” Honors Ensemble will perform under the direction of Elaine Johnson. The concert is free, and will be in the Warhill auditorium.

Berkeley Middle School’s band will offer a winter concert at 7 p.m. on Dec. 8. The free concert will feature Berkeley’s sixth-grade Beginning Band, sixth-grade Intermediate Band, Honors Band and Jazz Ensemble. The band will be directed by Reginald Bassett.
