The Executive Mansion of Virginia will feature little pieces of Williamsburg this holiday season.

Bill and Mary Apperson, owners of Williamsburg’s Millfarm Christmas Trees, presented Gov. Bob McDonnell with greenery to decorate the mansion on Monday. The presentation took place at the Executive Mansion in Richmond’s Capitol Square.

Millfarm Christmas Trees was one of three Virginia farms selected to provide decorations for the McDonnells. John and Virginia Carroll, of Louisa County’s Claybrooke Farm, presented a 12-foot Canaan fir Christmas tree and Jocelyn and Joe Lampert, of Crazy Joe’s Tree Farm in Culpeper County, gifted the governor with wreaths.

The farmers were chosen because the Virginia Christmas Tree Growers Association selected their products as “grand champions” in their respective categories. More than one million trees are harvested and sold annually in Virginia each year; the commonwealth is ranked in the top 10 states for number of trees harvested, total tree acreage and number of operations.

Millfarm is a choose-and-cut Christmas Tree Farm, where customers can choose a tree any time after Halloween. The farm is open for tree-cutting on weekends. Tree varieties include Cedar, Leyland Cypress, White Pine, Norway Spruce and Caanan Fir. The farm is located at 4900 Fenton Mill Road.
