York Sheriff's Office is on FacebookBy Sam Thrift Tuesday, December 13, 2011 Facebook users now have the ability to get information on York County crimes straight from the source with the launch of the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.The social media site will allow the police to share press releases, arrests, crime prevention tips and current incidents with anyone who “Likes” their page, according to a press release. “Policing our community is a partnership between the Sheriff’s Office and its citizens and timely communication such as this will only enhance this relationship,” Sheriff J. D. “Danny” Diggs said. You can find their page by clicking here. The police mentioned in the press release that their Facebook page should not be used to request a deputy’s response to a situation. Continue to use 911 for all emergencies, 890-3621 for non-emergencies, or 1-888-LOCK-U-UP to report crime line tips. Residents who don’t have a Facebook account can still go to www.yorkcounty.gov/sheriff for services and information. |
