Three Injured In Early Morning Shooting

Williamsburg Police are investigating an early morning shooting that occurred today in the 300 block of York Street in the City of Williamsburg.

Police responded to an emergency call in the area around 1:31 a.m. to find three people who had been injured in a shooting, which happened in front of a hotel.

All of the injured were transported to Sentara Hospital in Williamsburg for treatment of their wounds. Two of the three were treated and released as of 8:30 a.m.; the third victim was transferred to Sentara Norfolk General for treatment of a serious head injury.

All three victims were adult males.

Police Major Greg Riley said the incident was under investigation, and police had not yet determined what caused it.

Police are, Riley said, trying to locate a black male about 30 years old who was last seen leaving the area of the shooting on foot. Riley said the man is not a suspect but a "person of interest" to the investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or the Williamsburg Police Department at 757-220-2331.

This is a tragedy, you can say all you want about crime in Williamsburg but let's not forget that the boy fighting for his life right now is a very good guy, he thinks only of others and will do anything to help them. I, and I'm sure others pray for his recovery and that the person who did this is brought to justice.

I just want to say how amazing the police handled this. I was right there in the middle of it, working at the Patrick Henry Inn. The response time was phenomenal, and the police secured the area in seconds. You would think they handled this type of crime every single day! Calm, cool, and collected!

One would like to think that the historic area would be relatively crime free. But considering the holidays and all I guess it could be expected. Let;s all hope it doesn't continue and the person who did this terrible thing is caught.
