Suspected 'Meth' House Deemed Safe

The James City County Fire Marshal’s Office removed the “unsafe structure” placards Tuesday from one of the homes where police say they found methamphetamines being manufactured during a drug bust Dec. 15. The operation resulted in the arrest of 10 people from James City and York counties.

Police said Mitchell “Mickey” Ray Jacobs Sr., 55, and Faith Ann Whitaker, 38, of 1127 Penniman Road, were able to move back into their home Tuesday. The house had been condemned since the drug bust last month. According to a press release, results of tests conducted in the home indicated the presence of hazardous waste below threshold limits.

Jacobs has been charged with two counts of possession with intent to manufacture methamphetamine and three counts conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine. His next day in court will be Feb. 7. Whitaker, who is still in custody, has been charged with possession with intent to manufacture methamphetamine and two counts conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine. Her bond hearing is Jan. 12.

After a five-month investigation, warrants were executed last month at three York County residences in the 1200 block of Duncan Drive and the 1200 block of Wilkins Drive and two James City County residences in the 1100 block of Penniman Road and the 100 block of Rondane Place.

According to the press release, the Fire Marshal’s Office has not received test results pertaining to 106 Rondane Place, which remains marked as “unsafe.”

Police said evidence recovered from the James City residences included chemicals, over-the-counter medications and other items consistent with the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Including Jacobs, seven of the individuals arrested during the drug bust are currently out on bond or have sworn to come back for their next court appearance.

Patrick G. Dubois, 56, is still in custody. His bond hearing is set for Jan. 30. Dubois is charged with four counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, two counts of conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine and one count of being a fugitive from justice from the state of Georgia

Glenn Dubois, 35, is also still in custody. His hearing is set for Jan. 30. He is charged with one count of manufacturing methamphetamine, one count of conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine and a probation violation.

WE, the local public, have a RIGHT to know...how and where such local sources, obviously stockpiled, could have been collected for such a 'meth cooking house,' without any local business reporting it as required, for our safety!
This 3rd request for that information is once again being asked, publicly. If there was a five month investigation, the local authorities KNOW. WHY is that information about HOW and WHERE ingredients were accumulated not revealed, publicly, by the police and news media? Anyone know why?
