New Town Business Switches GearsBy Desiree Parker Friday, January 13, 2012

Jennifer Litterst closed her floral shop My Favorite Things, but only so she could expand her wedding and events floral business, she told WYDaily this week. My Favorite Things, adjacent to the Green Leafe restaurant, was the retail portion of Litterst’s business. Providing flowers for events “was just a larger part of our business,” she said. “Now it can be more efficient by not having retail.” Litterst has an offsite design studio where she’ll be working from, and has sold the property to an “established Williamsburg business” that will likely open in late spring. Being a successful small business owner has a lot to do with being able to adapt to change, she said. “My business changed a lot over 15 years. If I hadn’t changed, I wouldn’t have made it. You have to be ready to change when you need to.” Litterst, who is accredited by the American Institute of Floral Design, will continue to hold her flower arranging classes, which she said have been very popular. The classes will now be held in the Green Leafe loft. Visit her Events In Bloom website http://eventsinbloom.biz/ or, to sign up for a class, call her office at 229-7673. |

I wish I could make the same RESOLUTION as she.
Because we are making dumb decisions....ev ery notice the guardrail that protects the left and right side of casey blvd as it leaves newtown and goes into Settlers Market? Noone was watching as this road was designed/built. ....and it became FOUR LANES through the trees......prot ected first by a chrome side barrier like you see on I64 and then the pre rusted type you see on 199...I think a resident called them on the chrome barrier,,,,,,bu t even the rust thing is so horrible for the area,,,,why couldn;t have been a type1 VDOT barrier made of sandwiched wood and metal that is easily availalbe? And while I'm on it, what is the purpose of the parallel parking on that strip.......... .it all boils down to new town doing whatever it can to make money for the developers..... four lanes on ironbound? I don't know what is up with that either....it makes no sense.....
Best of luck to you Jennifer. Small business owners are real heroes.
Newtown cannot support the businesses there. The reality is that the business there closed.
Good folks at the shop....glad to see them moving to greener pastures, but that is obviously NOT NEWTOWN and whomever tries to rent this space or others is going to be sold the same bill of goods everyone else has been sold.
Live Work Play.
trouble is IT AINT WORKIN' that way.
