Two Openings on the Coleman Bridge Wednesday

Crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation will have multiple openings at the George P. Coleman Memorial Bridge on Wednesday, Jan. 18. The openings will occur at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Maritime traffic will not be affected during the maintenance activities.

Motorists traveling both northbound and southbound over the Coleman Bridge should expect traffic stops of up to 20 minutes as the spans are opened.

These openings are part of maintenance operations. Crews will be taking engineering measurements of the electric motors and inspecting the hydraulic span drive equipment.

These scheduled maintenance activities are weather dependent. VDOT will continue to update any changes to the proposed schedule as they occur.
