CNN's John King to Broadcast from WMBy Amber Lester Kennedy Tuesday, January 31, 2012
CNN's John King
“John King, USA,” headlined by the chief national correspondent, will air live from the Wren Building at 6 p.m. Thursday. Members of the campus community have been invited to attend the broadcast, which will feature a taped interview with former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. Gates will become the college’s 24th chancellor during Friday’s Charter Day ceremony. King’s producers have worked with the college to orchestrate the broadcast for more than two weeks. Director of University Relations Brian Whitson said the university is grateful for Gates’ generosity with his time, which made the broadcast possible. King’s interview with Gates will be the former secretary’s first national media appearance since his retirement last summer. King joined CNN in 1997. He served as the network’s senior White House correspondent from 1999 to 2005, when he became chief national correspondent. This year, he has moderated two GOP presidential candidate debates. For more information on the broadcast, the W&M Student Assembly has launched a Facebook event page here. |
