Williamsburg and James City County’s Parks and Recreation Departments are teaming to present an Easter Egg Hunt from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. today at the Warhill soccer fields. The event is free, but each participant should bring a basket or bag to collect their eggs. Toddlers who are able to walk up to the age of 2 will hunt at 10 a.m. Three-year-olds hunt at 10:15 a.m. Four-year-olds hunt at 10:30 a.m. Five-year-olds hunt at 10:45 a.m. Six-year-olds hunt at 11 a.m. Seven-year-olds hunt at 11:15 a.m. For more information call (757) 259-4200 or (757) 259-3760. Junior Ranger Day at Historic Jamestowne Young visitors have the opportunity today to join the National Park Service Family as Junior Rangers at Jamestown Island. Interested students complete a series of activities during their park visit, share their answers with a park ranger and receive a special patch and certificate. Family-friendly activities for all ages will be presented between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on April 23. Students from Jamestown High School’s Rho Kappa Honor Society will assist site staff to present the programs, all of which are free. Programs will include a five-mile bike tour along the Island Drive loop, games, hands-on craft demonstrations, a three-mile walking tour, a mock archaeology dig and more. Learn more here. Community Action Agency Fundraiser The Community Action Agency will host its 8th annual banquet at 6:30 p.m. on April 28 at the Crowne Plaza Williamsburg at Fort Magruder. IT is presented by the Williamsburg-James City County Community Action Agency and Board of Directors with major sponsor Towne Bank. Guests will enjoy music by Andre Cotman, a silent auction, cash bar and dinner. Tickets are $50 per person, $90 per couple and $450 for a table of ten. Tickets must be purchased prior to the event. York County Gardeners Hold Plant Sale The York County Master Gardeners will hold a plant sale on Saturday, May 7, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Learning Garden located at 301 Goodwin Neck Road (adjacent to the York County Public Safety Building). Annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees will be for sale at the Learning Garden Plant Sale. Limit of one set of Yorktown Onions per family. This event is sponsored by Virginia Cooperative Extension. York Firefighters Scoop Ice Cream Members of the York County Department of Fire and Life Safety will be at the Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream Shop at 5026 George Washington Memorial Highway in Grafton from 5 to 10 p.m. on April 27. During the event, the shop will reduce the price of all 2.5-ounce ice cream scoops to 31 cents. It will also introduce a new flavor – Firehouse #31, a blend of crunchy atomic fireball ribbon, hot cinnamon and packed with red hot candy pieces in vanilla ice cream. Baskin-Robbins is also making a $100,000 donation to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to mark the event. Artillery Unit to Perform in Yorktown Lamb’s Artillery, a Revolutionary War reenactment unit, will demonstrate the firing of a reproduction 18th-century siege cannon on the Yorktown Battlefield on May 1. The demonstrations will take place near the Battlefield Visitor Center at 12:15 p.m., 1:15 p.m., 2:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. The artillery represents Colonel John Lamb’s unit of the 2nd Continental Artillery that participated in the 1781 Siege of Yorktown. The interpretive demonstrations are sponsored by Colonial National Historical Park to help visitors understand the role and importance of artillery during the siege of Yorktown.
