JCC Notebook: Supes Meet and Kidsburg to Close for Repairs

jccnotebook2

The Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing Tuesday evening on a proposed car wash at Williamsburg Crossing, the six-year budget plan for secondary county roads and a proposed restriction of through truck traffic on two roads.

The applicant aiming to build the Williamsburg Crossing Car Wash got some negative feedback from residents nearby concerned about noise and traffic during an early March Planning Commission hearing. Since then, the applicant added some revisions to help reduce the impact on neighbors, so the Commission approved the plan that will go before the Board Tuesday.

Each year the Virginia Department of Transportation and the county review the budget for the six-year plan for secondary roads (those with a number of 600 or greater). The county has about $1 million over the next six years for secondary road projects, which the Board will look at on Tuesday. See the list of planned projects here.

The York County Board of Supervisors recently agreed to restrict truck traffic along York’s portion of Penniman Road and Government Road after nearby residents brought up their safety concerns. The other parts of the two roads belong to James City County, so the Board agreed to look at the matter Tuesday. If both boards agree, VDOT will install signs restricting truck traffic on the designated road areas.

Kidsburg to close for maintenance

Kidsburg, the community-built playground at Mid County Park, will undergo routine maintenance on Wednesday, May 11. The playground will be closed from 6 a.m.-5 p.m. for wood work and painting. The rest of the park will remain open.

Mid-County Park is located at 3793 Ironbound Road. For more information, call 259-5364.
