JCC Notebook: Planning Commission Meeting, County Cleanup Results and Grant Recipients

jccnotebook2News in the county this week includes an upcoming Planning Commission Policy Committee meeting, results of the spring cleanup around the county and announcement of this year’s Neighborhood Beautification Award recipients.

Planning Commission to Meet

The Planning Commission Policy Committee will meet Tuesday.

The meeting will cover Stage II Zoning Ordinance update draft changes, including: Cumulative impacts of development, including an update on progress to develop a database to track new commercial and residential units as they move through approvals and construction; Development standards, including floodplain overlay, timbering, and pedestrian accommodations; and Commercial districts, including Business Climate Task Force suggestions, commercial special use permit triggers, and permitted and specially permitted uses.

The committee will also discuss the policy manual.

The meeting will be held Tuesday, June 7, in Building A of the James City County Government Center on Mounts Bay Road. Members of the public, organizations, businesses and other interested parties are invited to attend and opportunities for comment will be available.

Citizens can also submit comments online.

Meeting materials will be available online the week before the scheduled meeting.

Spring Cleanup Results

The James City Clean County Commission shared the results of the 30th Annual Spring Cleanup.

During three consecutive weekends - March 26, April 2 and April 9 - over 300 community volunteers collected 50 tons of litter and recycled 500 tires.

Families, neighborhoods and organizations donated nearly 2,000 hours to help keep the community beautiful and improve the quality of life in James City County.

This Year’s Neighborhood Beautification Award Recipients

The James City Clean County Commission recently announced the recipients of the 2011 Neighborhood Beautification Matching Grants.

The County’s investment of $5,000 in grants combined with $16,709 of neighborhood investments of cash and in-kind services combined to make a total of $21,708 in neighborhood improvements.

The 2011 Neighborhood Beautification Matching Grants and projects are:
