JCC Notebook: Supes Preview, Community Center Closing and More

News in James City County this week includes information on the upcoming Board of Supervisors meeting, the temporary closing of the James River Community Center and notice of an upcoming Planning Commission Policy Committee meeting.

Supervisors Meet Tuesday

At their Tuesday evening meeting, the Board of Supervisors will discuss a height waiver for wireless antennas at the Kingsmill Marriott and the rezoning of parcels in the Forest Heights neighborhood.

Cingular applied for a height waiver for three wireless antennas and three screening walls on top of the Kingsmill Marriott, to be located on either side of the building and in the center. The antennas will project five feet above the existing roof.

The Board will also consider rezoning 53 parcels in Forest Heights as part of the revitalization project there.

The Board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Building F of the county government complex on Mounts Bay Road. View their agenda online.

James River Community Center Closes for Maintenance

James City County’s James River Community Center, located adjacent to James River Elementary School, will be closed July 11-15 for floor maintenance.

Work includes resurfacing and waxing floors, cleaning carpets and locker room tile work. During the closure, James River patrons can use their passes at the James City/Williamsburg Community Center on Longhill Road.

James River is scheduled to reopen on Monday, July 18.

Planning Commission Policy Committee Meeting

The Planning Commission Policy Committee will meet on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the Zoning and Subdivision Ordinance Update.

Topics covered will include Economic Opportunity, commercial districts, and green building.

The meeting will be held at 4 p.m. in Building A of the James City County Government Center on Mounts Bay Road.

Members of the public, organizations, businesses and other interested parties are invited to attend and opportunities for comment will be available. If you are unable to attend, comments can be submitted online.

Meeting materials will be available online the week before the scheduled meeting.
