Board Accepting Applications for Clean County Commission
The James City County Board of Supervisors is accepting applications from citizens interested in serving on the Clean County Commission. Established in 1981, the Commission is a coalition of local volunteers dedicated to promoting recycling and litter control, providing environmental education and helping coordinate County beautification projects. Meetings are held monthly. For more information about the Clean County Commission, interested parties should call 259-5375, visit the county website or attend the next Clean County Commission meeting Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. in room D at the James City/Williamsburg Community Center on Longhill Road. Applications are available online or by calling 259-5375. EDA Announces Chair, Vice Chair Paul W. Gerhardt has been elected chairman of the James City County Economic Development Authority and Marshall N. Warner has been elected vice chairman. Both will assume their new roles at the EDA’s January meeting. Gerhardt has served on the EDA since July 2008 and is the EDA’s liaison with the James City County Business and Technology Incubator. Gerhardt has been actively involved in the local community having served in the past as a Board Member for both Housing Partnerships, Inc. and the Greater Williamsburg YMCA. He is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, Historic Triangle Real Estate Group, Urban Land Institute, Virginia Bar Association and the Williamsburg Bar Association. He also serves on the Williamsburg Regional Board for Middleburg Financial Corporation. He served as President of the Hampton Roads Association for Commercial Real Estate in 2002 and still serves on its Presidents’ Council. Warner is the Executive Vice President at Chesapeake Bank, where he has been employed for the past 20 years. He has served on the EDA since July 2006. Warner was a previous chair of the Greater Williamsburg Chamber and Tourism Alliance and is currently serving on the Board of Directors Executive Committee. Currently, he is president of the Board of Directors of the United Way of Greater Williamsburg. Warner previously served on the Board of Directors at Williamsburg Landing. The James City County EDA is a seven-member volunteer Board whose members are appointed by the County Board of Supervisors and serve staggered four-year terms. The Authority's mission is to assist the County and its Office of Economic Development in expanding James City County's business, tax and job bases. DRC Meeting Rescheduled The James City County Development Review Committee meeting originally scheduled for Dec. 28 has been rescheduled to Jan. 4. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Building F Work Session room of the James City County Government Center on Mounts Bay Rd. The agenda will be available online the last week in December.
