County Parks and Rec Department Wins Award

James City County’s Parks and Recreation was chosen as a Sports Events Magazine’s 2012 Readers’ Choice Award winner.

The magazine, designed for sports events planners, collects readers’ nominations all year and compiles a list of some of the most creative and professional convention and visitors bureaus, sports commissions and venues in the United States and Canada. According to the Sports Events website, just over 100 winners were selected.

“These award winners have proven they are willing to go above and beyond the normal service levels expected by providing both the physical attributes and commitment to hospitality and service that today’s discriminating sports event planners demand,” said the magazine’s editor Kristen McIntosh.

“It is an honor to announce their selection by sports event planners as some of the best in the United States.”

The winners were selected based on the results of an online system that collected more than 3,000 votes. James City County’s Parks and Recreation facilities were one of only three groups in Virginia to receive the award.
