JCC Notebook: Public Meetings on Comp Plans, HRUBS New Billing Info and More

jccnotebook2News in the county this week includes a schedule for public meetings to discuss the coordinated comprehensive plan process for the three Triangle localities, a reminder that it’s about time to sign up for REC connect summer camp and information about HRUBS online billing.

Public Meetings on Comprehensive Plan Coordination

James City County, the City of Williamsburg, and York County are jointly reviewing their comprehensive plans and input from the community is needed.

The comprehensive plan is the long-range plan for the locality’s physical development and is used to evaluate development proposals and guide local decisions. While each locality will be conducting its own independent comprehensive plan review and developing its own plan, the coordinated timing of these reviews will provide an opportunity for discussion about issues of mutual interest, such as transportation, housing, and economic development.

The localities will host four community forums to give citizens an opportunity to share their vision for the overall Historic Triangle and for the focus areas listed below where locality boundaries meet. Maps of the focus areas and more information are available online.

The public is invited to attend one or more of the following meetings:

Riverside/Busch/Marquis area:

Thursday, Feb. 2, 7 to 9 p.m. at Magruder Elementary School Cafetorium, 700 Penniman Rd.

Lightfoot/Pottery area:

Thursday, Feb. 23, 7 to 9 p.m. at Warhill High School Auditorium, 4615 Opportunity Way.

Northeast Triangle and surrounding area:

Monday, Feb. 27, 7 to 9 p.m. at the Williamsburg Community Building, 401 North Boundary St.

Yorktown/Lower York County:

Thursday, March 15, 7 to 8:45 p.m. at Tabb Library Meeting Room, 100 Long Green Blvd.

HRSD and HRUBS Offer Online Billing and Payment

The Hampton Roads Utility Billing Service and HRSD will start offering expanded online service options including online billing and payment. HRSD is a regional wastewater treatment utility that serves 17 cities and counties. HRUBS is a cooperative utility billing service provided by HRSD. James City County participates in HRUBS so residents can get just one bill for water, sewer and other public services instead of getting several bills.

Customers received a redesigned bill this month and are now able to enroll in the online payment options. There will be no charge for the service, and it will allow customers to view bills and payment history online and make one-time or recurring payments through bank accounts or using credit or debit cards.

Get more information on the project from the HRSD website.
