The Board of Supervisors will hold public interviews with candidates for the vacant Jamestown District seat on Monday. The applicants are Michael Brown, Robert Hershberger, Wilford Kale, Shasha Digges, Kelly Mihalcoe and Robin Bledsoe. The Board will interview applicants on Monday starting at 4 p.m. in Building F of the county government complex on Mounts Bay Road. The Board will attempt to make a decision on a candidate afterwards; should they be unable to decide, the decision will go to the Williamsburg James City County Circuit Court. Public Hearing on CDBG-Funded Improvement Project James City County will hold a public hearing on Tuesday to solicit public input on the proposed Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) proposal to be submitted to the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development for the Neighbors Drive/Richmond Road Neighborhood Improvement Project. Residents of the project area are encouraged to attend. The Neighbors Drive/Richmond Road Neighborhood Improvement Project will include street, stormwater drainage, water, sewer and housing improvements. The draft CDBG proposal will be presented for comment along with information on projected beneficiaries, including the number of low- and moderate income residents to benefit from the proposed project, and plans to minimize displacement. Citizens will also be given the opportunity to comment on James City County’s past use of CDBG funds. The meeting will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Human Services Building, located at 5249 Olde Towne Road. First-Time Homebuyer Class The James City County Office of Housing and Community Development will hold a first- time home buyers class on Feb. 21 and Feb. 23. Anyone who is currently looking to purchase a home or is considering a purchase in the future will benefit from this class. Topics covered include personal finances, credit and credit scoring, qualifying and applying for a loan, choosing the right home and what happens at a loan closing. For many applicants, the mortgage company requires them to complete a home buyers class prior to loan approval. Those who attend both sessions will receive a certificate of completion.
