Supervisors to Meet
Supervisors will meet Tuesday to hold a public hearing on appropriation of funds to cover Hurricane Irene damage, and to discuss the applicants for the vacant Jamestown District seat. The county has filed claims with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for a total of $2.55 million to cover hurricane damage. Included in the amount is $2.3 million for debris removal and $84,000 in emergency protective measures, including emergency response overtime. These claims are cost-shared: 75 percent by the federal government, 15 percent from the state government and 10 percent from the county. In a memo about the claim, staff suggests the Board approve a $250,000 appropriation of county funds to cover the county portion of the funding. Also, the Board will consider the six applicants who recently interviewed with the Board for the vacant Jamestown District seat. Supervisors need to make a decision soon; if they can’t agree, the decision will go to the Circuit Court. Read the story on the interviews here. The Board will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Building F of the county government complex on Mounts Bay Road.
