Williamsburg Notebook: Board Appointments and a New Birdhouse

City Appoints Members to Boards and Commissions

The City Council of Williamsburg has made the following appointments and reappointments to Boards and Commissions:

Effective Immediately

• Ratnam Patel to the Economic Development Authority, for a term to expire June 30, 2013. Patel will fulfill the unexpired term of Mario Kokolis

• Susan Bruno to the Colonial Community Criminal Justice Board for a term to expire June 30, 2013.

Effective July 1, 2011

• Leslie Skinner to the Williamsburg Area Arts Commission for a three-year term to expire June 30, 2014.

• Sharon Marchelya to the Williamsburg Redevelopment & Housing Authority for a four-year term to expire June 30, 2015.

Reappointments Effective July 1, 2011

• Peter Walentisch to Colonial Behavioral Health for a two-year term to expire June 30, 2013

• Monty Mason & Edward Richardson to the Economic Development Authority for four-year terms to expire June 30, 2015.

• Sarah Houghland to the Library Board for a four-year term to expire June 30, 2015.

• James Ramage to the Social Services Advisory Board for a four-year term to expire June 30, 2015.

• David Watson to the Williamsburg Redevelopment & Housing Authority for a four-year term to expire June 30, 2015.

• The following to the Board of Equalization for one-year terms to expire June 30, 2012: David Hertzler, II; Barbara Baganakis; Jack Marston; Sharon Baker and Tex Turner.

Landscape Superintendent Builds Colonial Birdhouse

City of Williamsburg Landscape Superintendent Will Fidler recently designed and built a birdhouse modeled after the Capitol on Duke of Gloucester Street.

The house is intended for Purple Martins, and was installed in Bicentennial Park. The park is located near the National Center for State Courts on Court Street.
