If you have not received your assessment notice by July 15, please call the Real Estate Assessment Office at 220-6185. Assessment results can also be found here. Assessment reviews with the assessor began July 1 and will continue until 4:30 p.m. Aug. 1. City Council Meets Monday and Thursday City Council will meet Monday for its regular work session at 4 p.m. in the Stryker Building. Council will receive a legislative update from City Attorney Christina Shelton, information on screening refuse containers from Deputy Planning Director Carolyn Murphy and an inclusionary zoning update from Planning Director Reed Nester. On Thursday, council will host a public hearing about amending the text of its zoning ordinance to revise provisions relating to Chesapeake Bay Preservation or site plans. Council previously approved several revisions in March, but one additional minor change needs to be made to the site plan review section for the city to be in compliance with Phase III of the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area Designation and Management Regulations (the city has been subject to the regulations since 1990). Staff is recommending approval of the change. Council will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Stryker Building. Cast Ballot for Farmers Market The Williamsburg Farmers Market is again nominated as one of America’s Favorite Farmers Markets. The American Farmland Trust holds the annual contest to raise awareness about buying fresh food locally. Voters have until midnight on Aug. 31 to cast their ballot for their favorite farmers markets. Last year, 725 people voted for Williamsburg’s market, which won the title of “Best Medium-Sized Farmer’s Market.” To help Williamsburg defend its title, type your zip code here and cast your vote. |
