Williamsburg Notebook: Council to Meet with Legislators Monday

Later next week, Council will discuss amending the requirements to be on the Architectural Review Board and appoint a school board representative for the city. Read on for more information.

City Council to Meet with Legislators

City Council will meet Monday with Senator John Miller and Delegate-elect Mike Watson to discuss its 2012 Local and State Legislative Priorities.

The meeting will start at 4 p.m. in the Municipal Building. Learn more about the priorities included this year here.

BZA to Review Walsingham Fence Request

The Board of Zoning Appeals will host a public hearing on Tuesday to review a request from Walsingham Academy to construct a fence exceeding the limit for residential districts.

Walsingham wants to construct an outfield fence on its existing baseball field exceeding the six-foot height limit for its neighborhood, currently zoned for single family dwellings. The proposed fence would include heights ranging from 8 to 24 feet.

The BZA hearing will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the third floor conference room at the Municipal Building.

Council to Host Public Hearing on ARB Requirements, Appoint Board Member

The Williamsburg City Council will hold a public hearing at 2 p.m. Dec. 8 in the Stryker Building.

Council will consider amending the text of the Zoning Ordinance to revise membership requirements for the Architectural Review Board, pertaining to the requirement that one member be a licensed architect and one member have a degree in architectural history or historic preservation.

At the same meeting, Council will appoint a school board representative for the city.

Planning Commission to Discuss Classroom Trailers

The Williamsburg Planning Commission will host a public hearing at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 14 at the Stryker Building.

The members will consider a Special Use Permit request and site plan approval to install two temporary classroom trailers at Berkeley Middle Schools.

The trailers would provide four additional classrooms until July 2017. The property is zoned Single Family Dwelling District.
