Williamsburg Notebook: Tree Pickup Scheduled for Jan. 2 and 9By Amber Lester Kennedy Friday, December 30, 2011
Christmas Tree Pickup Begins Monday The city of Williamsburg will begin picking up Christmas Trees on Monday, and again on Jan. 9. Trees must be placed curbside before 7 a.m. The trees, which are collected for free, are ground into mulch for use by the city’s Landscaping Department. For more information, call Public Works at 220-6140 or email publicworks@williamsburgva.gov. BZA to Host Public Hearing on CW Request The Board of Zoning Appeals will host a public hearing at 4 p.m. Jan. 3 to review a special exception request by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation to reconstruct an 18th-century tin shop next to the James Anderson Armoury complex. The building will replace the present Mary Stith Shop, which was built in 1940 without the benefit of modern historical research, according to the special exception application. The building represents an expansion of the Armoury project as originally proposed to the BZA in July 2010. The BZA will meet in Conference Room 3A on the third floor of the Williamsburg Municipal Building. City Offices Closed for Holiday Williamsburg city government offices will be closed on Jan. 2 in observance of the New Year’s holiday. |
